چکیده

We introduce a dynamic stabilization scheme universally applicable to unidirectional nonlinear coherent waves. By abruptly changing the waveguiding properties, breathing of wave packets subject modulation instability can be stabilized as result abrupt expansion homoclinic orbit and its fall into an elliptic fixed point (center). apply this concept Schr\"odinger equation framework show that Akhmediev breather envelope, which is at core Fermi-Pasta-Ulam-Tsingou recurrence extreme events, frozen steady periodic (dnoidal) by suitable variation single external physical parameter. experimentally demonstrate general approach in particular case surface gravity water waves propagating flume with bathymetry change. Our results highlight influence topography waveguide properties on lifetime confirm possibility control them.

A fully nonlinear Boussinesq model for surface waves. Part 1. Highly nonlinear unsteady waves

Fully nonlinear extensions of Boussinesq equations are derived to simulate surface wave propagation in coastal regions. By using the velocity at a certain depth as a dependent variable (Nwogu 1993), the resulting equations have significantly improved linear dispersion properties in intermediate water depths when compared to standard Boussinesq approximations. Since no assumption of small nonlin...

Steady and unsteady nonlinear internal waves incident on an interface

Steady nonlinear internal waves are commonly described by the Dubreil-JacotinLong equation. This equation contains unknown functions of the stream function, representing the density and vorticity fields. Often these are determined by upstream conditions where the flow is assumed to be known. But for the case when the waves are periodic in the horizontal direction, these functions need to be det...

Waves on unsteady currents

Models for surface gravity wave propagation in the presence of currents often assume the current field to be quasi-stationary, which implies that the absolute wave frequency is time invariant. However, in the presence of unsteady currents or time-varying water depth, linear wave theory predicts a time variation of the absolute wave frequency and wavenumber . Herein, observations of wave frequen...

Nonlinear Waves on 3d Hyperbolic Space

In this article, global-in-time dispersive estimates and Strichartz estimates are explored for the wave equation on three dimensional hyperbolic space. Due to the negative curvature, extra dispersion is noted, as compared to the Euclidean case, and a wider range of Strichartz estimates are proved. Using these, small data global existence to semilinear wave equations is shown for a range of powe...

Nonlinear waves with negative phase velocity.

Recently, waves propagating with negative phase velocity [simply called antiwaves (AWs)] have attracted great attention in the area of nonlinear oscillatory systems. In the present work we investigate the parameter conditions for AWs. So far AWs have been revealed from systems slightly beyond Hopf bifurcation or some other instabilities, and from some wave sources with certain restricted freque...
